Warehouse bins are sub-locations within a warehouse. Enabling Bin Management allows you to track the specific locations of inventory within the warehouse.
Create New Bins
You can create new bins by either manually entering them or importing them using the Salesforce Import Wizard. Each bin must have a designated Bin Type to define the warehouse activities allowed for that bin.
Common Fields for Importing Bins
When importing bins, the most common fields to include are:
-
Warehouse: The warehouse to which the bin belongs.
-
Bin: The name or identifier of the bin.
-
Bin Type: Specifies the activities the bin is intended for (e.g., Pick, PutAway).
-
Bin Ranking: Used to prioritize bins for picking.
Print Bin Barcodes
A typical bin number consists of Aisle, Bay, Level, and Position (e.g., XX-XX-XX-XX).
Once you have finalized your bin numbering system, you can either outsource the barcode printing to an external vendor (including color printing) or print bin barcodes directly within GoldFinch.
We recommend using barcode font 128 due to its high-density capability.
