GoldFinch maintains a GL Summary table in real time based on posted GL Entries to improve the performance of financial reporting by aggregating key financial data.
To enable this feature, create a new Custom Setting record:
-
Name:
GLSummaryEnabled -
Value:
True
Note
After enabling this feature, if the GL Summary does not update in real time, verify that Accounting Periods have been created and opened for the dates of newly posted transactions.
Processing Steps
When posting transactions and creating GL Entries, GoldFinch automatically updates the GL Summary table based on the following 7 key fields:
-
GL Account
-
GL Ledger
-
This field may remain blank if only one GL Ledger is maintained.
-
-
GL Variable 1
-
GL Variable 2
-
GL Variable 3
-
GL Variable 4
-
Accounting Period
-
The period is calculated from the Posting Date of the GL Entries.
-
GoldFinch creates a single GL Summary record for each unique combination of these key fields. Each GL Entry is linked to its respective GL Summary record.
Error Resolutions
When summarizing GL Entries to the GL Summary table, errors may occur, although they are rare. To ensure data consistency, after running the Daily Adjust Cost Routine , GoldFinch automatically executes two jobs to keep the GL Summary and GL Entry objects in sync:
-
GLSummaryBatch job: Identifies and processes any GL Entries that are missing a linked GL Summary.
-
GLSummaryBatchRollup job: Recalculates the GL Summary amounts based on all the linked GL Entries.
These automated jobs help maintain accuracy in financial reporting by ensuring that GL Entries and summaries are consistently aligned.
Manual Sync Option
You also have the option to manually run the Daily Adjust Cost Routine from the Administration menu at any time to sync the GL Summaries with GL Entries. This ensures that any discrepancies between the two objects are corrected promptly.
