The Cycle Count Journal can be used to count inventory for a specific range of bins within a warehouse. This method allows you to track and adjust inventory counts efficiently, whether you're counting a single bin or multiple bins.
Creating a New Cycle Count Journal
-
Open the App Launcher and search for Item Journals.
-
Click New to create a new journal.
-
Select Inventory Cycle Count as the Record Type and click Next.
Fill in the Required Fields
-
Posting Date: Enter the date of the count.
-
To Warehouse: Select the warehouse where the cycle count will take place.
-
From Bin / To Bin: Define the bin range for the count.
-
If you are counting only one bin, enter the same bin code in both the From Bin and To Bin fields.
-
-
Click Save when the fields are completed.
|
GoldFinch uses the Bin Sort field on the bin records to determine which bins fall within the specified range. |
Calculating Counts
-
Click the Calculate Counts button to automatically calculate the current quantities on hand for all items between the From Bin and To Bin.
-
The Calculate Counts function will populate the Item Journal Line and the Track Line objects with these calculated quantities.
Printing the Cycle Count Sheet
Click the Print Cycle Count Sheet button to print a physical count sheet. This sheet can be used to record the actual physical quantities and lot numbers for each item in the specified bins.
Editing the Physical Count
-
Once the physical counts are completed, click the Edit button to enter the Physical Quantity if it differs from the calculated quantity.
-
For lot-tracked items, click the Enter Lots button next to the Item Journal Line to enter the physical quantities by lot. The quantity column will automatically calculate the positive or negative adjustments based on the difference between the physical count and the calculated count.
-
If there are new lots to enter, click Add Tracking Line to add additional lot lines.
Note
If new items were found during the count that are not already listed, create a separate Item Adjustment Journal to record these new quantities.
Posting the Cycle Count Journal
Once the physical counts have been entered and reviewed, click the Post button to finalize and post the Cycle Count Journal.
