Manage Project Plans

GoldFinch allows you to create, edit, and manage Project Billing Tasks and associated Work entries efficiently through standard pages and visual planning tools.

Using Standard Page Layouts

You can use the standard Salesforce page layouts to create or update Billing Tasks and Work records directly.

Using Edit Project Plan Button

This feature provides a global view of all Billing Tasks and Work on a single screen. It enables:

• Inline editing of Billing Tasks

• Creation and editing of Work records associated with Billing Tasks

Right-Click Actions

• Copy a selected line

• Add new Work with the following default values:

  • Assigned To = Current User

  • Priority = Medium

  • Status = Open

  • Start Date / Due Date = Today’s date

• Paste the copied line

• Delete:

  • Deletes all underlying Work when deleting a Billing Task

  • Prevents deletion if the Billing Task or Work is referenced in other transactions

Drag and Drop

GoldFinch supports drag-and-drop functionality to reorder:

• Work records within a Billing Task

• Billing Tasks within a project

Multi-Select Line Editing

Documents and Collaboration

Each Billing Task and Work record supports document uploads and Chatter integration:

• Displays the number of uploaded documents and Chatter messages

• Click on the Task Name to open the standard detail page, where you can upload files or post messages

Start Date/End Date Logic

• When Start Date is updated:

  • Automatically set Due Date = Start Date + Duration

• When Due Date is updated:

  • If the new Due Date is earlier than the Start Date, keep the old Due Date without showing an error.

• To auto-update the following fields on the Billing Task based on underlying Work records:

  • Start Date

  • Due Date

  • Complete %

  • Duration

Refer to Managing GoldFinch Custom Settings to configure a new custom setting:

• Name: BillingTaskAutoUpdateDatesCompletion

• Value: True

Additional Buttons

• Save / Quick Save – Save changes in the current session

• Expand All / Collapse All – Toggle display of task with Work details

• Show Open Items – Filter to show only Work where Status ≠ Closed

• Export Project - Exports the current view to a file.

• Gantt Chart - The Gantt view visually sorts and displays tasks and work items by Start Date.
