Mobile Scan Overview
GoldFinch Mobile Scan brings warehouse and inventory transactions to mobile devices. Using barcode scanning, warehouse employees can record activity at the point of work—reducing manual entry, improving accuracy, and keeping inventory information current in GoldFinch.
Built on the Salesforce platform, Mobile Scan connects warehouse activities with the same inventory and operational records used throughout GoldFinch.
Mobile Warehouse Operations
GoldFinch Mobile Scan can support common warehouse activities, including:
- Receiving purchased or transferred inventory
- Putting received inventory into warehouse bins
- Picking items for customer shipments
- Verifying and processing outbound shipments
- Moving inventory between bins or locations
- Counting inventory and performing cycle counts
- Reviewing item and bin information
- Recording selected shop-floor transactions
Available functions depend on the organization’s GoldFinch configuration, licensed modules, and warehouse processes.
Barcode Support
Employees can identify items by scanning supported barcodes rather than entering item numbers manually. Depending on the organization’s configuration, GoldFinch can recognize:
- GoldFinch item numbers
- UPC barcodes
- GTIN barcodes associated with item units of measure
- GS1 barcodes
- Lot and serial numbers
- Bin, pallet, receipt, pick, or shipment labels
Barcode scanning helps employees verify the correct item, quantity, warehouse location, and transaction.
Receiving and Put-Away
Warehouse employees can scan incoming products as they are received and direct inventory to the appropriate warehouse or bin.
Mobile receiving and put-away can help organizations:
- Record receipts more efficiently
- Reduce manual data entry
- Maintain better visibility into newly received inventory
- Move products from receiving areas to storage or picking locations
- Support lot-, serial-, and pallet-controlled processes when configured
Picking and Shipping
Mobile scanning helps warehouse teams identify, pick, and verify products for outbound orders.
Employees can use scanning to:
- Locate products assigned to a pick
- Confirm the item and quantity being picked
- Record movement to staging or shipping areas
- Verify products before shipment
- Support more accurate order fulfillment
GoldFinch can also support warehouse processes such as zone picking, wave picking, batch picking, and pallet-based shipping when included in the customer’s configuration.
Inventory Movement and Counting
GoldFinch Mobile Scan can record inventory movements as they occur within the warehouse. Employees can scan the item and relevant locations when moving inventory between bins, warehouses, staging areas, or production locations.
For inventory counting, mobile scanning can help teams:
- Perform cycle counts
- Conduct blind counts
- Review bin contents
- Record counted quantities
- Reduce the use of printed count sheets
- Investigate inventory differences more efficiently
Connected Inventory Information
Because Mobile Scan works with GoldFinch on Salesforce, completed transactions update the related GoldFinch records. This gives warehouse, customer service, purchasing, sales, and operations teams access to connected inventory information without maintaining a separate warehouse database.
Timely transaction processing can improve visibility into:
- Inventory by warehouse and bin
- Available and allocated quantities
- Receipts and put-aways
- Picks and shipments
- Inventory movements
- Lot and serial activity
- Warehouse transaction history
Business Benefits
GoldFinch Mobile Scan can help organizations:
- Reduce manual entry and transcription errors
- Improve warehouse transaction accuracy
- Process inventory activity closer to the point of work
- Increase visibility into warehouse operations
- Strengthen lot, serial, pallet, and bin traceability
- Accelerate receiving, picking, shipping, and counting
- Improve coordination between warehouse and office teams
- Standardize warehouse processes across locations
