Replenishing Production Input Bin

As discussed in the Warehouse Setup section, GoldFinch uses Input Bins or Batch Input Bins (for Batch Work Orders) to pull inventory for consumption during production. Depending on your warehouse setup and the specific Work Order, you may need to replenish these bins before components can be consumed.

Replenishing Inventory for production requires considering two key dimensions:

1. Inventory Quantity: Ensuring there is enough inventory in the bin.

2. Unit of Measure (UOM): Ensuring the inventory matches the unit of measure required by the Work Order.

Many manufacturers purchase raw materials in bulk but use different measurements in production. For example, an ingredient may be purchased in gallons (gal) but used in the formula in ounces (oz). Similarly, packaging materials might be purchased in CASE but used as EACH.

The Create Replenishment Movements function helps in identifying any discrepancies between available inventory and what’s required for production. It highlights the necessary Inventory Movements or Breakbulk Movements to match the required quantities.

Select Work Orders

• From the Work Order List, select the Work Orders you want to include in the replenishment process.

• All selected Work Orders must be in the same warehouse and must not have the Finished status.

• Click Create Replenishment Movements:

  • GoldFinch will analyze the Work Lines of the selected Work Orders and summarize the Remaining Quantities of the component items, organized by item and unit of measure.

• Review and Confirm:

  • The confirmation page will display the total Expected Quantities of each component required for the selected Work Orders.

  • Review the inventory availability for each component, then click Create Movement.

• GoldFinch Will Create a Warehouse Movement Activity to:

  • Breakbulk inventory in the Input Bin to match the required UOM for the Work Orders.

  • Suggest inventory to move and breakbulk from other bins, ordered first by Lot Expiration Date and then by Bin Ranking (higher-ranked bins are prioritized).

Executing Warehouse Movement Activity

• Print Instructions:

  • On the Whse. Movement Activity page, you can print instructions for the warehouse staff to follow during the movement process.

• Post the Movement:

  • After the movement is executed, click Post to commit the transactions in the system, ensuring that the inventory has been correctly replenished in the appropriate bin and is ready for consumption.

By following these steps, you can ensure that the correct quantities and units of measure are available in the Input Bins for efficient production. The Create Replenishment Movements function streamlines this process by providing visibility into inventory discrepancies and facilitating the necessary movements.
