Sales Implementation Tips

In GoldFinch, you can either manually enter sales orders or use the Import Sales Order feature to import orders from EDI or e-commerce platforms. Efficient inventory management is critical for handling sales orders and shipments, and GoldFinch offers several options to streamline this process.

Key Features and Processes

1. Inventory Allocation for Sales Orders:

   • You must allocate inventory to a sales order before creating a warehouse shipment.

   • Inventory allocation is global, meaning it is done at the warehouse, item, and unit of measure level, and is not associated with bin, lot number, or serial number.

   • GoldFinch is set up to automatically allocate inventory when you save a sales order. This feature can be disabled either company-wide or for specific customer accounts.

2. Detailed Allocation for Shipments:

   • When creating a Warehouse Shipment or Pick, GoldFinch performs a detailed allocation down to the bin, lot number, or serial number level.

3. Multiple Units of Measure for Items:

   • You can manage inventory using multiple units of measure per item. All inventory transactions (inbound and outbound) must be tagged to the appropriate item unit of measure.

   • Ensure that item unit of measure conversions are configured accurately before transactions, as changing the conversion later is time-consuming.

4. Optional Configurations for Efficiency:

   • You can configure other processes for efficiency, including the option to bypass Pick or Put-Away if your company does not require these functions.

5. Batch Processing Routines for Sales Orders:

   • GoldFinch offers several Sales Order Batch Processing routines, such as:

     • Allocation

     • Creation of shipments

     • Invoices

     • Posting of shipments and invoices

   • Use Salesforce Views to manage records with various filtering criteria, such as Document Status, for more efficient batch processing.

6. Salesforce Native Features:

   • Salesforce features like Chatter, Tasks, Notes, Attachments, and Emails can improve collaboration and efficiency when properly implemented in sales order processing.
