For finished goods that require several components, it's essential to properly set up the Item Formula (BOM) and Item Routing. The Item Formula specifies the components needed, while the Item Routing outlines the steps to complete the finished product.
If you prefer to use the term BOM (Bill of Materials) instead of Item Formula, you can follow this guide to rename it.
Steps to Set Up Item Formulas for Finished Goods
Open the App Launcher and search for Items.
Click on the finished good that requires Outside Services (e.g., "Test-Finished Goods").
Scroll down to the Item Formulas section and click on New.
Fill out the fields based on the components needed to create the finished good.
Click Save.

The Item Formula should include all components required to produce the finished good.
Steps to Set Up Item Routings for Finished Goods

Scroll down to the Item Routings section.

Click on New to add a new Item Routing.
Fill out the Item Routing according to the steps needed to create the finished good.

Operation No.: Defines the order of the manufacturing steps.

Work Center: Select the Outside Service Item as the work center if the process involves an external service provider.

Click Save.

Operation No.: This field indicates the sequence of steps required to manufacture the finished good.

Work Center: If an Outside Service is used during production, make sure to assign the Outside Service Item as the Work Center in the Item Routing.
Formula Versions
If your finished goods occasionally use different packaging or components, you can create different Formula Versions to accommodate these variations in production.
