When receiving the same item in multiple Units of Measure (UOM), follow these guidelines to ensure quantities are processed correctly.
Scan One Unit of Measure at a Time
Complete scanning all quantities for the first Unit of Measure before scanning the next Unit of Measure.
If you must scan items out of order:
- Fully scan the item using the first listed Unit of Measure.
- Scan the item using the second Unit of Measure.
- Return to the first Unit of Measure if additional quantities need to be scanned.
This ensures the receiving process correctly tracks quantities for each Unit of Measure.
Scan a GTIN Barcode Instead of the Item Number
You can scan a GTIN barcode to automatically identify both the item and its corresponding Unit of Measure.
Setup
Before using GTIN scanning:
- Configure the GTIN on the appropriate Item Unit of Measure record.
- Enter the Purchase Order line using the item's Base Unit of Measure.
Process
- Scan the GTIN barcode.
- GoldFinch automatically identifies the associated Unit of Measure.
- Enter or scan the quantity using that Unit of Measure instead of the base unit.
Example
Purchase Order:
- Expected Quantity: 900 Each
GTIN Configuration:
- GTIN Unit of Measure: Pallet
- 1 Pallet = 150 Each
Instead of counting 900 Each, simply scan and receive:
- 6 Pallets
GoldFinch automatically converts the received quantity to the item's base unit while recording the receipt using the GTIN's Unit of Measure.
