Overview
When an item is stored and shipped in larger units (such as pallets or cases), you can scan the GTIN barcode on the packaging instead of counting individual units. GoldFinch automatically recognizes the GTIN, selects the associated Unit of Measure (UOM), and records the correct quantity, making warehouse picking faster and more accurate.
Setup
Before using this feature:
- Configure the GTIN in the Item Unit of Measure setup.
- Associate the GTIN with the correct Unit of Measure (UOM).
- Enter the Sales Order Line using the item's Base UOM.
Scanning Process
- Scan the GTIN barcode on the item's packaging.
- GoldFinch automatically identifies the associated UOM.
- Count and scan the larger packaging unit (such as pallets) instead of individual units.
Example
| Sales Order Quantity | GTIN UOM | Quantity per GTIN | Picker Counts |
|---|---|---|---|
| 450 Eaches | Pallet | 150 Eaches | 3 Pallets |
Instead of counting 450 individual units, the picker simply scans and confirms 3 pallets, reducing counting time and minimizing errors.
