Understand the contract administration capabilities available through Salesforce and GoldFinch, and when you need an additional CLM product.
Overview
GoldFinch operates natively on the Salesforce Platform. Organizations can use Salesforce records, files, security, reporting, activities, and configurable automation to maintain contract information and connect contracts with GoldFinch operational and accounting transactions.
This approach supports contract administration and financial tracking. It does not by itself provide every function of a specialized legal Contract Lifecycle Management system. Advanced drafting, clause management, collaborative redlining, electronic signature, and automated legal compliance review may require Salesforce Revenue Cloud or an integrated third-party application.
| Capability | Classification | How it is provided |
| Contract record | Standard or configurable | Use Salesforce Contract records or a configured contract record model. |
| Documents | Standard | Store agreements and supporting documents with Salesforce Files. |
| Approvals | Configurable | Use Salesforce Flow or approval functionality based on the customer's process. |
| Alerts | Configurable | Use dates, tasks, scheduled Flow and email notifications. |
| Financial activity | GoldFinch plus configuration | Relate contracts to sales, purchasing, projects, subscriptions, and accounting transactions. |
| Legal CLM | Integration or additional license | Use Salesforce Revenue Cloud CLM or another CLM application when you need advanced legal functionality. |
Typical contract lifecycle
- Create the contract record and identify the parties, owner, department, and contract type.
- Upload the draft or executed agreement and related documents.
- Route the record for required business, financial, and legal approvals.
- Record the effective date, expiration date, renewal terms, value, and obligations.
- Monitor milestones, invoices, payments, commitments, and renewal dates.
- Record amendments without removing the original agreement or its history.
- Complete the close-out process and retain the record according to policy.
Important limitations
Availability depends on the customer's Salesforce licenses, configuration, and permissions. Test a configured process before use. GoldFinch does not provide legal advice and does not determine whether an electronic signature, approval, or retention process satisfies a specific law or contractual requirement.
