Item Formulas in GoldFinch define the components used to create a manufactured item, also referred to as the Parent Item. The configuration of these formulas can be tailored based on your specific manufacturing requirements.
-
If Batch Manufacturing is not required, you can follow the instructions in Rename Item Formulas to BOM to rename Item Formulas to BOMs (Bill of Materials).
Item Formulas
Item Formulas are the components used to create the Parent Item. Each formula represents one component, and you can create formulas directly from the parent item or from the Formula Version.
Key Fields for Item Formulas:
|
Field Name |
Explanation |
|---|---|
|
Component |
The specific component item used to create the Parent Item. |
|
Unit of Measure |
The UOM used for the component item. |
|
Per |
Defines the quantity of the component used in relation to the parent item. |
Other fields are optional but can be useful depending on your specific manufacturing needs.
Formula Unit of Measure Consideration
You can define a Unit of Measure (UOM) for your formula. Here are some key considerations:
-
If you manufacture an item that comes in different UOMs (e.g., EACH and CASE), you can define those variations in the formula.
-
For Standard Manufactured Items, the formula is based on the Base Unit of Measure for the item.
-
It is recommended that the Base UOM for manufactured finished goods aligns with the UOM you sell most frequently (e.g., Case or Bag). This will simplify defining packaging in the formula and assist with forecasting and supply planning.
For more details on Batch Manufactured Items, refer to Configure Formula Versions and Item Formulas for Batch Manufacturing.
Phantom BOM Consideration
Phantom BOMs are used in certain manufacturing scenarios where components are not stocked as separate items but are part of a larger assembly. You can read more about Phantom BOMs in Phantom BOMs.
