GoldFinch provides three different undo actions for handling Vendor Payment checks. Each option serves a different accounting purpose and has different system impacts.
1. Void a Check
You can void a check when the Vendor Payment has not been posted.
Since no GL Entries have been created, there are no accounting entries to reverse. After voiding the check, you may reprint it with a new check number and then post the Vendor Payment.
👉 See Read: Void Checks from Vendor Payment for additional details.
2. Unpost a Vendor Payment
If the Vendor Payment has been posted and a correction is required, you can unpost it.
The system automatically creates reversing GL Entries using the same posting date, effectively removing the accounting impact.
3. Financially Void a Check
If the Vendor Payment’s posting date falls within a closed accounting period, the payment must be financially voided.
The system creates reversing GL Entries using today’s date, allowing corrections without reopening prior accounting periods.
Accounting Impact
✅ Previous financial statements remain unchanged
✅ Prior AP Aging reports are not affected
Resulting Status
-
Document Status changes to Financially Voided
-
The Vendor Payment cannot be deleted
Next Step
A new Vendor Payment must be created to reapply the original purchase invoices.
